Glore
A small planet that resembls Earth with a similar atmosphere and land to water ratio. Glore revolves around Crescent 19 and is most notable for being the home world of the Lollibrackens.
Author’s Note:
When Brandon encountered the Lollibrackens for the first time, I knew the story would end up on their home world. I am a fan of snow. Visually it is striking and as the story progressed in my head, I wanted to get Brandon out of the starship. Glore was a perfect way to not only get him off the bridge, but also into the snow.
Glore was also one of the first examples of the BSU expanding. Wren had already been mentioned, but this was the first foreign planet that Brandon encountered. I also felt it was important to make Glore very similar to Earth. Throughout science-fiction there are examples of planets that are all ice, or one giant city, and while there are instances of that in the BSU, I wanted the first planet Brandon visited to be believable to the reader. The more the reader accepted the realism of the world, the more willing they would be to accept the fantastical creatures that inhabit it.
Glore was named after my mother, Gloria. Around the time I created it, I heard my father call out to my mother, “Glore!” and it just stuck.
