Carnage Missiles

Shiny, thick, red missiles which explode feet from impact and shoot out large amounts of white hot, sharp shrapnel, which totally obliterates its target. These are extremely powerful and come in different varieties. Some release shrapnel in all directions, while others focus the shrapnel in a single direction.

Carnage missiles can be found in the Hidden Sun’s arsenal.

Lasers and explosions are cool, but there is something really appealing about shrapnel as a weapon. I am a big fan of war movies, especially WWII, and while it is very low-tech, shrapnel does a lot of damage. The idea was to have something substantial that would impact a starship. Lasers and bombs release energy, which shields can absorb or dampen. Not all shields are designed to resist non-energy devices. It adds another wrinkle to the story.  This weapon was named after one of my favorite comic book villains.
