Tourch

The lead Ptevos starship in General Zarafat’s Hunter Armada, the Tourch was the next evolution of Ptevos warships featuring advanced location technology developed to hunt down specific targets (Clipper). The starship has seventy-two high grade laser canons, powerful shields, and the Yason.

The emerald and onyx starship is in the shape of a half moon, with its seven engine clusters positioned at the rear between two pointed tips. The front of the Tourch is curved in such a way that it gives the ship the appearance of an angry, almost demonic smile. It is 1200 feet in length and 450 feet high. What the Tourch lacks in maneuverability, it more than makes up for in speed and power.

Author’s Note:

I never intended for the the conflict between Brandon and General Zarafat to be one of starship vs starship. While the Hidden Sun is a focal point of the first few books, the Tourch does not get the same attention. The story is not about two characters represented by their respective starships. It is about a boy who is trying to get his parents back from a creature that has needs and desires of his own.

I never actually named the Tourch in the first two books. Years after writing them I saw the word “Tourch” written in marker on a butane canister used to melt ferrel cement to put tips onto fishing rods.
