Species

A note about the different species – C.K.

I have previously mentioned on this web portal that as a retired man, one of my passions is filling in the gaps in the Brandon Sparks story (as well as correcting some of the errors made by Mr. Fuld). One of the best ways I have found to do this is to choose a character and try to determine what motivates him or her (or it in some cases).

Every individual has a set of motivations based on their abilities and desires. Motivation is a powerful force and it is difficult for an outsider to determine another individual’s motivations and what their impact, both positive and negative, will have on the world around them. Now that several years have passed we are fortunate to possess more information about the childhood of Brandon Sparks than at any time in the past. We can use this information to more accurately piece together each character’s motivations and see how they impacted a specific event or set of events.

Before engaging in such research, as I am, I feel it is important to begin on the perimeter with some basic background information on the many species that Brandon encountered along the way. In my own studies I have often found that labeling an individual as good or evil, or smart or stupid, or any of a hundred different things, based solely on their species is detrimental. I have also found that having a basic knowledge of physiology and culture is critical to understanding any individual’s motivations.

When I converse with friends about Brandon Sparks and the extraordinary creatures he came in contact with along his journey, we tend to gloss over the fact that Brandon was human. It is certainly interesting to learn what drives Mokossa, Rex Saasha, and of course General Zarafat, but the human element is just as exciting. Earth is definitely a different place than when Brandon was a boy, but I feel that what we know about the human condition is sufficient enough to allow us to fully realize what Brandon’s motivations were. In order to understand the motivations of other species, we need to have a similar collection of knowledge about them.

It’s been about ten years now since I made the journey to Praggun City. I had questions about some of the events that took place there. Technology is great, but sometimes in order to get what you want, you’ve got to physically be there. Truth be told, once I got hooked on Brandon Sparks, it was a place I had dreamed of visiting. As I walked around the city, I gazed at all of the aliens and wanted to know everything about them. Ah, I am getting off topic. I ramble some times.

Take some time and read up about the different species in the Brandon Sparks Universe. When are through, seek me out and we can take this further.
