Saasha Akuma
Not much is known of Rex Saasha Akuma’s childhood. His ascension to the crown was an unlikely event when the complex plan he set in motion to force Rex Kratu Canon to give up the thrown and name him rex succeeded. Once he wore the crown, his first order was to have the former rex and his family killed, but the old Ptevos was able to escape and left Draculous with his two sons. Saasha Akuma was ruthless and focused the Ptevos resources on growing their dominance in the galaxy by invading other worlds, enslaving their inhabitants, and stealing their resources.
Rex Saasha is small for a Ptevos, standing just over 6’ tall and having a slender frame. A few years older than General Zarafat, his gray skin is faded and a bit loose, but his eyes are bright black, and full of life.
Author’s Note:
When it became clear that the story would be heading to Draculous, I knew that with Sym Zarafat being a General, their needed to be someone higher up the command chain so I created a king. I didn’t want to refer to him as king, because that title makes me think of knights, round tables and princesses in distress, which is a far cry from Draculous, and Saasha Akuma. A simple fix for this was to use the Latin for king, which is rex.
The addition of Rex Saasha was also a perfect way to create conflict with General Zarafat, and gave me an opportunity to throw a big wrench into the works. The relationship between these two characters is almost as important as the one between Brandon and General Zarafat, and as the story continues, this develops into a major plot line.
I don’t know why but I named him after my first dog Sasha. I added an extra “a” and off you go. Years later when I noticed that General Zarafat had a first and a last name, I decided that all Ptevos would. I chose the name Akuma after my friend Rich, who uses it as his online handle. The fact that Akuma is Japanese for devil makes it an even more appropriate choice.
Charlie’s Note:
At some point in their lives, even the most despicable villains must have shown signs of compassion, friendship and love, right? I have spent the last three seconds going through the archives of time and I can find examples of these emotions shining through the cracks, but not with Rex Saasha. While my memory on Rex Saasha’s childhood is not complete, I have a full record of his actions from just before he took power on Draculous to the day he died. During this time period, he did not display compassion, friendship, or love for another life form. All he wanted was power and respect and in the end, both were his downfall.
