Armando Ramirez

A short, plump, jolly man, who likes to hum. Dr. Ramirez resembles a penguin and sort of waddles like one, but moves quickly for a man of his girth. He is the senior medical officer aboard the Hidden Sun and wears a long white coat and carries a large electronic touchpad tablet called a Shana. Dr. Ramirez has an eccentric personality and a lifelong love of lollipops.

Author’s Note:

Dr. Ramirez is the opposite of the typical doctor. When I was writing Brandon Sparks and the Hidden Sun, there weren’t many funny characters. Charlie added most of the comic relief, but here was a moment where I could insert a character that was a complete oddball. From watching most Sci-Fi shows, the doctor was always very serious. So I wanted to do something different. The first interaction between Brandon and the doctor was my opportunity. Here is this brilliant doctor trying to diagnose a boy who isn’t sick, and to boot, he can’t get his name right.

Charlie’s Note:

Dr. Ramirez was always held in high regard by his colleagues, and his patients. He was an incredibly talented physician! I remember when he was awarded the Castle Award and considered one of the top physicians on the planet Wren. Most who met him would consider him eccentric. I would call him goofy.
